How the list came about...

For years I have been talking about "the list". Always saying that certain places or countries are "on the list" or "I'm putting that on my list".

The invisible infinite list exists only in my dreamy brain at the moment, but now I've decided to put it down on paper (sort of) in a hope that I actually tick them off, writing down and photographing everything I see and do, so that when I'm old and wrinkly I can remember all the wonderful things I've done/seen, the people I've met, the tastes, the smells and so on...

It's now time for less talking and more doing!

Here is the list as of:

November 2010

1. Thailand - This has been on the list since about 2005 when I only got to see Bangkok airport for 2 hours, rather than stay there for a week. You can understand why at 20 years young I didn't really want to travel round on my own! I want to sleep in a hut, wear no shoes, go on boats, snorkel to my hearts content in clear blue sea and eat real thai green curry!

2. Paris - It may be a cliche, but ever the true romantic, I want to see Paris, look at the eiffel tower, go in coffee shops, shop, visit art galleries and pretend I'm cultured and take b&w photographs looking brooding. It was have been better if my chouchou Tatiana still lived there - but she's in LA, which brings me to...

3. California - I know its the state but there's lots of things I would like to see there so it needs to be all of it. Since I was about 8 or 9, when we first got a computer and it came with a CD ROM (old school) of San Diego Zoo, I have always wanted to go there? I also want to go "drinking in LA at 26" alike to Bran Van 3000 and see San Francisco and Hollywood.

4. Hawaii - My Dad also has this on his list. It has my favourite flower the hibiscus, the people are supposed to be very friendly, its sunny and tropical and you can surf, sounds like my kind of place. More bare toots!

5. Morocco - This has only been on the list for about a year - but I vowed I would go this year.. and I am! I am pleased to say this will be my first proper entry to The List. I'm intrigued by the culture and think it will be something I've never experienced before.

6. Berlin - Another new contender over the past couple of years as I can't say I'd ever thought about it before. The boy's favourite holiday destination and recommended by many, I look forward to learning more about the Berlin Wall, the politics behind the country and generally exploring.

7. New Zealand - Having been to the sister country of Australia, I would love to see the greeness of the country. Especially after watching Lord of the Rings with the amazing scenery. Me and the boy also joked that we would live there for a bit were I could work in a clothes shop without a care in the world, flowers in my hair and no shoes!

8. Brazil - And more specifically, the carnival! This has been on the rest for about four years - I cannot even imagine the atmosphere when carnival arrives in Brazil. The noise, the excitment, the colour.

9. Florence - Ciaoo Bella! A friend told me that it's her favourite place in Italy. And there's rumour she may get married there in two years time! Fingers crossed!

And finally...
10. Biarritz - Grandad says its cold, but Im prepared to give it a whirl!

5.
